Vacancies  in  Group  ‘B’  are  filled  by  promotion  on  the  basis  of  selection  of  eligible  Group C employees by General Manager. Selection Board consists of 4 HoDs including CPO and HoD of the department concerned. 70% vacancies are filled through  a process of selection primarily based on seniority and 30% through a selection test known as Limited Departmental Competitive Examination(LDCE).

Group A= gazetted officers comes directly in service from UPSC like IRPS, IRES, IREES

  2. Pay Level 7 (GP 4600):

    • Initial Salary: Rs. 44,900
    • Maximum Salary: Rs. 1,42,400
    • Reflecting the increased responsibilities, the salary range is higher than Level 6​​.
  3. Pay Level 8 (GP 4800):

    • Initial Salary: Rs. 47,600
    • Maximum Salary: Rs. 1,51,100
    • Officers at this level enjoy a substantial salary range, indicative of their advanced role within the railways​​.
  4. Pay Level 9 (GP 5400):
